CDSE( COMBINED DEFENCE SERVICES EXAMINATION) 2025

What is CDSE?

The Common Defence Services (CDS) examination serves as a common entrance test for aspiring graduate male and female candidates seeking to join esteemed institutions such as the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Indian Naval Academy (INA), Air Force Academy (AFA), and Officers Training Academy (OTA). Our aspiration is to become the premier CDS coaching center in India, located in the beautiful city of Dehradun.

CDS is conducted biannually on a national scale by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) to identify potential officers for the aforementioned academies. Following the CDS written examination, successful candidates receive call letters for the Service Selection Board (SSB) interview. Those who pass the SSB interview then undergo a rigorous medical examination, and the final merit list is determined based on their performance in the written test, interview, and medical evaluation. For those aspiring to join the Flying Branch, there is an additional assessment known as the Pilot Aptitude Battery Test (PABT), which is an integral part of the SSB interview.

It’s important to note that women candidates are eligible to join the Officers Training Academy (OTA) as Short Service Commission (SSC) officers, providing an excellent opportunity for women in the defense sector.

Furthermore, there are reserved seats for candidates who hold an NCC ‘C’ Certificate, recognizing and rewarding their dedication to the National Cadet Corps.

What is the Process of Examination / Selection?

Notably, there is a penalty for incorrect answers, with a deduction of 0.33 marks for each wrong response. For candidates aiming to join the Officers Training Academy (OTA), the question count is 200, and the same marking scheme applies.

Phase 2: Candidates who successfully pass the Written Exam proceed to the next stage, which is the Service Selection Board (SSB) process. This comprehensive evaluation spans five days and encompasses multiple components, including the Screening Test, Group Testing Officer (GTO) tasks, Individual Testing, and a Personal Interview.

Phase 3: Those candidates who qualify during the SSB process are subsequently invited for a comprehensive Medical Examination, administered by the Service Selection Board. This examination ensures that candidates meet the required health and fitness standards.

Phase 4: The Final Merit List is formulated based on candidates’ performance in the Written Exam, the SSB Interview, and the Medical Examination. This merit list represents the culmination of the entire selection process and serves as the foundation for recommending candidates to advance in their pursuit of joining the armed forces.
